I reached bombay and immediately went off to Pune to play a show, got back the next day. Ohhh ... by the way, i was at the "German Bakery" exactly a week before the bomb blasts ... that kindda freaked me out. But anyhow, i got back to Bombay and started making final preparations for the video shoot. A couple of meetings took place where we went over the final story-boarding and concept of the video and also "the look" the director wanted for me. So I had a few meetings with the stylists where we went over the required wardrobe etc. for the look they wanted. It was quite fun for me because I ended adding some good clothes to my general wardrobe. Another aspect was finalizing on the kids who are going to be there in the video and the main kid in particular. After all of that, we were finally ready to go, so we booked the studio and proceeded with the first day of the shoot, which was mainly shots of me playing the piano and lip synching with the song playing around me through those huge speakers. For those of you who haven't seen it, I have uploaded a picture of the set on my twitpic account, so please check it out via my twitter account. It was sooooo tiring, about 7 hours or so of playing the piano. It took sooo long because they shot the whole song through a million difference angles etc. Finally it all ended up quite swell. Once my piano shots were done, we had very little time left because post 10 pm, we run into over-time which I didn't have the budget for. But somehow we managed to get the 2 shots (the shot with the child's mother and the shot the main kid and the shadows of people taking his little sister away) ... I personally LOVE that particular shot, it's a very artistic shot and yet gets the point across. Anyhow, without getting into more details because you'll only understand once you see the video. As we got done with a 12 hour long shoot, we wrapped up and the plan was to get up by 4 AM the next morning and leave for the 2nd phase of the shoot. But as I got home, the director calls me and tells me there has been a bomb blast in Pune and because of that Bombay is on high alert, so we CAN NOT shoot tomorrow.
With alot of careful planning for a million contingencies, we went ahead and shot 3 days later ... This was in even more tiring day, this was a 16 hour shoot in about 6-7 different locations. There are alot of shots that im quite excited about but am not going to mention them on this blog, cuz it'll be cooler for you all to watch it first hand without really expecting it.
But overall it was an amazing learning experience to see what all actually goes into making a video , the crew, all the equipment, schedule sheets etc etc ... But it was alot of fun. Overall after alot of editing and treating, I am quite confident that it's going to be an awesome video .... I just hope that it gets the message of the song across successfully and also ends up looking cool.
I have documented the making of the video, which I will be editing and putting up on my YouTube Video Blog ... For those of you who haven't seen it:

^^ I have documented the entire making of my album, so plz do check that out.
Anyhow ....
Hope you guys like the video when it's out

Back to topI'm quite excited about shooting a video for "Make a change". I'll be going to Bombay to shoot it. We are keeping the theme of the video as real as possible and are going to try to capture the truth and reality of the lives of slum kids ....
It's really exciting to be working with an awesome director, Mrinal Bahukhandi. He is a producer and director for Channel [V] ... i've worked with him before on the cyanide profile shoot for Launchpad .... we have spent the last week story boarding over the phone and via e-mail and now im quite excited to get started with the shoot.
I've always felt that "Make a change" is such a song that can make a bigger impact through a strong music video.
I'll keep posting new things in the blog section about my experiences while shooting the video and interacting with real slum kids living in bombay (who are going to be a part of the video)
Cheers
